Hi Arvid!
I just came across your stepper motor driver. I liked your design cause its all in discrete components! Chips are not so cheap where I live, and I’ve got a lot of transistors at home so I’m stuck with them. Do you have some schematics using only BJT’s? Thanks and nice work
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I’m not that good at transistor design. I use LTSpice to simulate the schematics. I suppose it’s possible to use BJT, but you may need to change the driver stage that is now designed for the FET’s.
Hi ArviD!
I was inspired with you design of the controller for the bipolar stepper. I’m somewhat confused with the output current waveform. How did it became a discrete sinewave? Is it because of a DAC? Thanks Again.
Hi.
Yes it’s because of the DAC. What you see is the current flow in one winding in the motor. (Or voltage across a load resistor to the motor.)
